“I want to practice living slower on the planet,” she said.

Diamond, 66, is retiring after more than 40 years as an educator, the past 14 years spent as principal at San Ramon’s innovative independent study school, Venture.

RCPC opposes Safeway

The Rockridge Community Planning Council has come out against plans for a new, bigger Safeway.

In response to that and other feedback, the retail chain is taking another look at the controversial new store.

“We are taking back the design to review it,” said Esperanza Greenwood, director of public affairs at Safeway.

Toys in park cause neighborhood spat

“Colby Park is encircled by 61st Street and tucked away in a quiet Rockridge neighborhood. On a sunny day, with children laughing and parents picnicking, it appears tranquil.

But the park is at the center of an escalating neighborhood dispute. Residents are divided on how to handle the communal toys that fill the park, an issue addressed at a July 21 community meeting.”
